ShieldsUp is a volunteer driven initiative of over 500 Kiwis, 3D printing, manufacturing and distributing face shields to our medical and emergency heroes across the country facing Covid-19 head on.

Within two weeks, we have delivered over 5,000 face shields, but we are still hearing the calls of many. As the government and DHB’s publicly assure us that all necessary equipment is readily accessible, the demand for our face shields continues to grow daily, with requests for 30,000 shields.

If you would like to help us help them, sign up to volunteer at shieldsup.org.nz, or make a donation to ensure we can continue to produce and distribute our shields to protect our frontline heroes.

Take the kids out to search for ones that lay flat and are generally round or oblong in shape. If you don’t live near water, you should be able to get some from your local garden supply store.

Make the most of this weekend with this easy step by step project idea from Resene.

Hi neighbours! SOS Business was set up to help local businesses in your community. It means you can buy gift cards from your favourite cafés, restaurants and service providers and then redeem them when they re-open after lockdown.

You can play a special part helping small businesses stay afloat during this time. Spread the word to your friends and family so that we can help as many local businesses as we can.

Thanks for being a great neighbour by being a lifeline for businesses in your community.

PS - in case you were wondering, due to the success of SOS Café, and the number of other service businesses now on the Platform, the team have rebranded to SOS Business – Save Our Small Business!

We know some of you are facing threatening and potentially harmful times at home right now. Police will be there for you if you call us.

If you are in immediate danger and can’t call 111, leave your house and get out of harm’s way. Get to a safe distance and then ask a neighbour over a fence, or a passer-by, to call 111 for you. Your safety comes first.

It’s everybody’s responsibility to speak out and keep each other safe right now. If you think something is not ok with a friend, neighbour, or colleague, it’s okay to call Police on their behalf. The person you’re worried about may not be able to speak up for themselves. You could be saving a life.

Hi Neighbours 👋
I hope you are all well and safe at home, working or otherwise, not going to crazy! 🤯

❤ I wanted to touch base with everyone today - I know everyone is being effected with different challenges physically and mentally.
We all have little ideas and tips that can help each other so how about you comment below with, for example:
-Something you are struggling with.
-A "shout out" to something/one that helped you.
-Something you have found helpful with agjusting and feeling good.

🤔I have seen these as helpful to some:
-Talking about things - you can get or give reassurance and relief.
-Trying to give yourself a schedule, fresh air and physical activity.
-Not being to hard on yourself is important when adjusting to challenges and change.
-Think about how those around you are feeling.
-Its important to focus on positives,(talking can help here too) if we focus on negatives then that is what we have and how we feel, its sometimes hard and could feel like clutching at straws focusing on positives in hard times but its so helpful, gets you more mentally focused and more able to get what you want/need and feel good.
-Every step counts, don't be hard on yourself, reach out, focus positive.
-Do something to relax - everyones different e.g. have a bath, read a book, be *CREATIVE*, meditate, netflix and chill or even just doing nothing can sometimes be nice.
-Activities with children and/or pets at home (where applicable)
-Doing things you enjoy or can enjoy after - for example
~anything you have wanted to do, learn etc (thats possible) give it a try, or look for something new online
~We cleared up some garden and its so nice to see it tidy out the window each day.
~I made some recipies I had never made before but had wanted to, was bit of fun/learning, came out great and family loved them too.
~General tidying "been meaning to get to" - feels so good after
~Declutter - a clear space can be more physically and mentally comfortable
~ I also have on my list to tidy my cupboard, make some creative pieces, get my work out schedule back on track (so not just sitting round working and eating :/) along with other things

-Google is also a fantastic tool when stuck for ideas, as is your social media platforms and commnuity on neighbourly, facebook, intagram, pintrist etc etc

I have included the link to where the information in the image was found. If you need it I hope there is something to help :)

I look forward to seeing all the comments and people supporting each other. We are all very lucky in many ways, stay safe, be kind ❤
