Our Council Services at Alert Level Two:
• Council offices will reopen Thursday 14 May. We'll be operating differently to meet requirements for physical distancing and contact tracing. Please continue to do your business with us on the phone or online if you are able to.
• Our Tasman District Libraries will reopen Monday 18 May. Hours are 10am-4pm Monday-Friday (Murchison only open Tuesday-Friday). There will be changes to meet Level Two restrictions and not all services will be available at the start. Read more here: bit.ly...
• Playgrounds and exercise equipment will be open on Thursday 14 May. We’ve been doing safety checks on all equipment after seven weeks without regular maintenance. If equipment is still taped off after Thursday it likely means we’ve found a safety issue that needs fixing so please don't remove the tape and keep off the equipment.
• Kerbside recycling and rubbish collections continue as they have during Covid-19 restrictions. The plant that sorts mixed recycling (paper, cardboard, plastics and cans) will open Saturday 16 May. All recycling collected from Monday 18 May will be sorted and processed, it will no longer be sent to landfill. Please ensure only clean recycling is in your bin as we'll be checking and bins contaminated with rubbish won't be collected. Glass will be sent to Auckland for recycling as usual.
• Normal opening hours resume at all Resource Recovery Centres and all services are available from Saturday 16 May (including waste, greenwaste, recycling drop-off, reuse shop activity, whiteware and hazardous goods). We'll be requesting contact details for all customers and limiting numbers to maintain safe distancing. Payment by EFTPOS is preferred.
• Our recreation centres will be able to reopen but numbers will be managed. You need to maintain physical distancing at all times and contact tracing measures will be in place. Social gatherings of more than 10 people is not permitted in our centres.
• The Richmond Aquatic Centre will reopen Thursday 14 May with changes to services. Read more here: bit.ly...

The Nelson Provincial Museum is launching a new online exhibition on Thursday, which celebrates the history of Rugby in New Zealand - starting from the inaugural match played between Nelson College and Nelson Town on May 14 1870.

We have been restocking the shop during level 4 and 3 and also have a heap of new giftware that arrived.

Nelson's Community Foodbank has been four times busier since the country went into lockdown, spending more than $5000 a week on food to keep those in need fed when times are tough. A funding boost from Nelson Building Society has helped them to meet the increased demand.
