If you are looking to purchase Genuine manuka honey, the different ways of rating it can be very confusing! UMF, MGO, NPA, or pollen count. Then there is Mono-floral and multi-floral manuka!
These all show the antibacterial level of manuka honey.
The concentration of hydrogen peroxide is what gives manuka its effectiveness along with the fact that honey is hydroscopic (absorbs moisture).

Multi-floral manuka simply means that the bees will have collected other honey at the same time as the active manuka whereas mono- floral will be pure manuka.

Obviously the higher rating the more expensive your honey will be. If you require a good honey for a sore throat etc, a 5+ or 80 MGO is all you need. At the other end of the scale if you are treating a wound I would use a 20+ and apply it topically.

Hi neighbours,

What would you like to see in your local council's outdoor space policy?

More concerts, festivals and markets are on the cards for Wellington City if a new plan is approved by council.

The council is reviewing its policies for trading and events in public spaces, making some areas more accessible while placing heavier regulations in others.

26 parks, reserves and carparks are being explored to allow commercial trading, street vendors, tourist activities and recreational equipment to operate.

Commercial activities that might degrade public land, like commercial tours and fitness classes may be charged a licensing fee to cover administration, repairs and maintenance.

A limit on dog walkers and a reduction of footpath signage would be a part of the council's plan to scrap two pieces of existing policy.

Would you support the changes if your local council implemented them? Let us know in the comments below and don't forget to type NFP if you don't want your comments featured in the Kapi-Mana News.

When Erich Krogmann started the Food and Beverage Level 2 qualification, he had to learn how to balance study with a night job and a young family, but his main challenge came in the form of his hearing disability.

Erich says he thinks he’s inspired other people with a disability to take on training.

I would love to be a single indoor bunny where I get all the human attention. I am a clean boy and will go into my large litter tray for toileting. I love gentle pats on my head and sometimes come up to you for treats. I regularly binkie around super fast, and when I'm tired I do bunny flops as I am a happy boy.
I love space and the outdoors so I will need a large grassy area with a weatherproof hutch for outside during the day. My indoor area must be big enough for me to spend the day and night comfortably. My caregivers ask that rabbits always come inside at night, to be part of the family and to keep me safe. I could go to a home with friendly cats as I've met some before."

There are no door sales at Porirua Little Theatre's former home.
After years of consultation, legal manoeuvres, failed fundraising attempts and an avalanche of public conjecture, the council finally succeeded in getting approval to demolish the theatre which has been a focal point in the bay since 1943.
With demolition looming – likely to be by year’s end – a heritage consultant will be brought in to assess any features that could be preserved, which could include the ceiling trusses.
The Porirua City Council is asking for the public's input into what the commemorative park, set to replace the soon-to-be demolished US Marines Hall in TÄ«tahi Bay, should include.

Each cat is going to average a cost of $300 each, could well be alot more for some that may be sick or have injuries. I have 15 of these cats & kittens already in the short time since I was alerted to them. Please help enable us to get the lot b4 it's to late, every dollar counts more than you'd realise, thankyou :)
