Trapline training

Phil Hartwick from Predator Free Whitby

Predator Free Porirua is here to protect our birds and other native taonga.

We are about to hold our next trapline training session on Thursday evening of 14th August (7:00-9:00pm). Trappers who have been through the training are typically assigned a line to look after and are paired with a buddy. Most lines range from 1-2 hours to check once a month.

Please register by emailing: Predatorfreewhitby@gmail.com
Once registered we will contact you to provide details and answer any questions you might have.

If you are only looking for a trap at home, or want to offer help as a non-trapper you can register by filling out the volunteer form on our website: www.Predatorfreeporirua.org...

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

The Environmental Protection Authority announced this week that a proposed mine in Central Otago (near Cromwell) is about to enter its fast-track assessment process. A final decision could come within six months, and if it’s approved, construction might start as early as mid-2026.

We want to know: Should mining projects like this move ahead?

Keen to dig deeper? Mike White has the scoop.
