Landlord refuses to fix toilet for months even when poo leaked
Kia ora neighbours, tenants had to move out of their Kelston rental after their landlord failed to fix sewerage problems for months.
The tenants took their landlord Mauri Ora Limited to the tenancy tribunal and said there were times they’d flush the toilet and faeces and toilet paper would come out the other side of the house.
In August 2021, the tenants moved into the rental and noticed sewage was coming out of the trap by the front door for the first month they lived there.
They told Mauri Ora Ltd about it and a plumber was sent and put tape over the trap. The tenants said this made sewage leak out of a trap on the other side of the house instead.

Poll: Should we ditch daylight saving? 🕰️
First introduced in New Zealand in 1927 with the passing of the Summer Time Act, it's what we know as 'Daylight Saving' and this year it ends on the first Sunday in April.
While we do get to sleep in this time around, some people would like to scrap the clock tinkering for good.
And why? Some evidence suggests the time changes are bad for our health as they mess with sleep patterns leading to short-term fatigue and affecting mood. Meanwhile the hour change is frustrating for farmers and a nightmare for getting the littlies to sleep. But what's your take?
-
34.3% Yes - get rid of the clock changes
-
64.7% No, I enjoy it
