By region, the numbers of new dwellings consented in the year ended August 2021 (compared with the August 2020 year) were:
19,929 in Auckland (up 34 percent)
4,869 in Waikato (up 19 percent)
3,298 in Wellington (up 4.3 percent)
7,499 in rest of North Island (up 27 percent)
7,077 in Canterbury (up 25 percent)
3,773 in rest of South Island (up 0.7 percent).

Poll: Do you think banning gang patches is reasonable?
With the government cracking down on gangs, it is now illegal for gang members to display their insignia in public places whether through clothing or their property.
This means arrests can be made if these patches are worn in places like restaurants, shops, on public transport or ferries, and on airplanes. Arrests were made recently at a funeral.
