Rodney Local Board Targeted Rate - $1500 over 10 years

Warwick from Muriwai

HAVE YOUR SAY – Vote Yes or No - for the Rodney Local Boards (RLB) request of an $1500 additional Targeted Rate (TR) for minor transport infrastructure projects within the Rodney District. This applies to each household and will be collected along with the standard rates over the life of the 10 Year Auckland City Council Plan. I.E $150 per year.

The monies are to be used within the Rodney District and each area will get a project. Without being divisive, an example given by a representative at the recent Helensville meeting advised us, one of Muriwai’s projects will be the Curb and Channelling of Domain Cres.

As worthy as this project is, one has to consider if all Muriwai ratepayers, tenants and future residents think this will beneficial to the tune of $1500.00 each household. Add this to the ACC rates, + the proposed 11c per litre petrol surcharge + water infrastructure levy, the costs start mounting for those on fixed incomes and young families.

It is pleasing the RLB are encouraging the vote option in “Have Your Say” however you should be aware that traversing the site is not the easiest of things to do.

DO NOT let this put you off. Most people are likely aware of how they feel on the issue and there is ample info to read on the website. On the website there are many questions and if you have the time, they should be considered.

This Targeted Rate is payable by all current Rodney and future ratepayers for 10 yrs. This obviously will impact to an extent to those renting properties, as this TR will likely be included in a landlord’s calculations. The point is that as many residents as possible in Rodney should go onto the link BELOW and HAVE YOUR SAY NOW, as you will likely be affected by the result.

Everyone has until the 28th March (just 4 days) to have your say by going here;

Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙

One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.

So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?
