JANUARY’S WEATHER, MID-MONTH

Murray from Paraparaumu

A reduction in previous months’ cloud and the corresponding increase in temperatures has resulted in fairly normal January weather, although rain has been almost non-existent, following months of low to average rainfall. And, with sun forecast within the next hour or so in Kapiti. the heavy rain possible in the Tararua Ranges is unlikely to add to this early morning’s trace.

The daily average temperature to date is 23.5 degrees, the same as last year and a few points above average. Sunshine is also slightly up on last January, and rainfall of course is way down.

Poll: Do you think banning gang patches is reasonable?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

With the government cracking down on gangs, it is now illegal for gang members to display their insignia in public places whether through clothing or their property.

This means arrests can be made if these patches are worn in places like restaurants, shops, on public transport or ferries, and on airplanes. Arrests were made recently at a funeral.

Do you think this ban is reasonable?
