Caution urged on Ōtaki Gorge Rd.
The Kāpiti Coast District Council is reminding people to be careful on the on Ōtaki Gorge Rd.
"The wild weekend weather certainly made an impact around the district and kept our crews busy with surface flooding and road closures. The consistent rain also worsened the slow slip at Blue Bluff, 12km in from SH1 on Ōtaki Gorge Rd. This section of road has been closed since September last year and as you can see from the new pictures is in very poor condition. It is very important to stay off this section of road. It is unstable and unsafe for both vehicles and walkers. For those heading into the Tararua Forest Park there is alternative walking access available, and work is underway to begin restoring full access to Ōtaki Forks."
