A trailblazing Māori scholar has finally received the recognition she deserves — nearly 100 years after her passing.

Mākereti Papakura, believed to be the first Indigenous woman to study at the University of Oxford, has been awarded a posthumous degree certificate.

Papakura sadly passed away in 1930, just weeks before she was due to present her thesis. Her research was later published as The Old-Time Māori — the first ethnographic study written by a Māori author.

We hope this brings a smile!

If you’re one of the many home users still running Windows 10, you’ve probably seen the headlines about Microsoft ending support in October 2025. It might sound serious — but before you panic, take a deep breath.

Your computer isn’t going to stop working.

At Compserve, we’ve helped Kapiti residents through every Windows transition since the days of Windows XP. Here’s what the end of Windows 10 support really means, what protection you’ll still have, and how you can stay secure and supported.

🛑 What Does “End of Support” Actually Mean?

Microsoft will officially end mainstream security updates for Windows 10 in October 2025.

That means they’ll stop releasing new security patches and feature updates — but your existing system will keep working exactly as it does today.

You’ll still be able to:
✅ Start up and use your computer normally
✅ Browse the internet, watch videos, and check emails
✅ Print, scan, and use your existing apps and files

So, nothing will suddenly break or stop working when the deadline arrives.

🔒 Windows 10 Will Still Offer Basic Protection

Even after October 2025, Windows 10 continues to include powerful built-in protections:
