I'm aware that many are feeling a financial strain at this time so, IF MONEY IS A PROBLEM PLEASE TALK TO US ABOUT OPTIONS. In what can be a scary time, having no power can amplify that feeling so please get in touch.
I would largely appreciate it if you could share this message. One of the hardest things for us is making people aware of what we do. As always, a massive thank you to our clients, it's your support that helps us give back to the community in times like this.
Our goal is to stay home as much as possible for the safety of the Kapiti community, so we may decide your problem is not essential while in lockdown. If this is the case, we can schedule you in for when we reopen. We will also be wearing a facemask and disposable gloves for our safety and yours, on arrival.

If you need anything done away from home and are unable to leave or you need something picked up, or whatever, then PLEASE PLEASE do not hesitate to contact me on; 021 023-12550 and together we will sort out a solution. There will of course be no charge for this help, unless you’re in a position to give any food or product which will be handed over to the Kapiti Food Bank.

ANYONE FOR GOLF? I am investing my limited funds into membership of the Kapiti golf club. I may well find someone playing, but Neighbourly found a dog-needy person for me last year and I'm hoping luck will come my way again. A good golf mate would be not elderly but older, capable of playing without losing more than 4 balls per game, man or woman; living around Paraparaumu Beach might have some advantages.
When I played as a student I tried to get my handicap under 21 but I can't remember doing that, and I haven't played more than 4 games since 1975. Nothing like renewal, eh?

Metlink GM Scott Gallacher says, that while there are still a number of issues to work out, all trains and buses will move to Sunday services after Tuesday.
“We’ll work to deliver to the current timetables across the network tomorrow but from first thing Wednesday morning, Sunday timetables will be implemented,” says Mr Gallacher.
Buses will no longer board from the front door. Metlink apologises to customers who rely on the accessibility options provided at the front door and encourages customers to find out more about Total Mobility services during this time by calling 0800 801 700.
Customers will be encouraged to continue their own physical distancing practices on all trains and buses, leaving a space next to them where they can.
“We’re still working out what this might mean for Wairarapa rail services and will provide more updates when they become available,” says Mr Gallacher.
UPDATE: As part of the move to Sunday timetables, Metlink school bus services will not run from Wednesday.

In a press release on Sunday, Mayor K Gurunathan said the council's actions have and will continue to be guided by the latest advice from the Ministry of Health and other Government agencies.

In a press release on Sunday, Mayor K Gurunathan said the council's actions have and will continue to be guided by the latest advice from the Ministry of Health and other Government agencies.
“While there hasn’t been the directive from Government to close our facilities, we, like many other councils around the region feel that it is appropriate, based on the number of elderly people living in our community, to close. We’ve been working closely with our colleagues at Horowhenua, who are also taking the same path.”
The closures would take place from Monday morning until further notice.
“People will still be able to transact with the Council online and communicate with the Council team via email, telephone and Antenno.
This was not an easy decision as we know how vital these services are for our people but the message from our Prime Minister yesterday was clear – we need to do everything in our power to minimise the opportunity for COVID-19 to spread. I want to reiterate that the government guidance is to close public facilities when we get to Level 3 – but that we feel we need to take appropriate steps to protect our community ahead of time.
I also want to assure our community that significant response planning is already well underway with regard to essential services like infrastructure and community welfare. Be confident that we are prepared and ready to response to this rapidly evolving situation.
Finally, I want to again call for patience and kindness. There is only one source of official information and that is central Government via the Ministry of Health and www.covid19.govt.nz....
In the event that there are confirmed cases in our community, these will be publicly notified by health authorities. There is a robust protocol in which health officials ensure the strict isolation of confirmed cases.
Close contacts of any cases will be contacted, provided with advice and put in monitored self-isolation to limit the risk of spread in the community.
I am confident that in the event that cases are confirmed, all the right steps will be undertaken to protect our community – it’s important that we have trust in the official process.
So please keep calm, clean and kind, Kāpiti – we’re all in this together."
