Heirloom Veggie Plants Waikanae Market this Saturday

Val from Otaki District

Another week of excellent growing weather so head on down to the market this Saturday!
Still a good range of heirloom Tomatoes but we are running low on some varieties. We have good strong plants, grown outdoors and hardened off so they are ready to go straight into your garden or planters. A great selection of different sizes, from tiny cherries to enormous beefsteak types, and colours ranging from green to black, orange, yellow, purple as well as red.
Plenty of Cucumbers, including the legendary New Zealand heirloom, Port Albert, plus Lebanese, Crystal Apple, Spacemaster and various Telegraph varieties.
Pumpkin include Butternut, Buttercup, Whangaparoa Crown, Queensland Blue and Kumi Kumi (Kamo Kamo).
Herbs: Mint and Chives and Basil.
Coming soon: Red Capsicum and a limited amount of Kumara, both red and orange.
We've had poor germination with our bean seeds but hope to have Dwarf and Runner Beans ready very shortly.

ACCOMMODATION REQUIRED

Gary from Waikanae

Our grandson (20) recently moved to Kapiti from Taranaki and is looking for accommodation. Anything considered.
He describes himself as clean and tidy, friendly but a bit reserved and quiet.
I would add trustworthy and family orientated.

Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙

One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.

So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?
