Heirloom Veggie Plants Waikanae Market this Saturday
This week it's early Zucchini for those with a greenhouse or a really warm sheltered spot. Our 'Kimber' variety is a prolific cropper and self-fertile, which makes it ideal for early spring when the bees are not active. Last two weeks for this variety. A great range of other varieties coming on for later this month.
The first heirloom tomatoes are just a week away, again, for greenhouse or veggie pod planting only at this stage. The ground needs to warm up a lot more before we would recommend planting outdoors.
Also celery, silverbeet, broadbeans and beetroot this week. More spring favourites in the pipeline for coming weeks.
In the flower line, we have potted daffodil, carnations and freesias just coming into bloom.
Look for our stall midway along Park Avenue. Just hoping the weather is going to be kinder than forecast!
ACCOMMODATION REQUIRED
Our grandson (20) recently moved to Kapiti from Taranaki and is looking for accommodation. Anything considered.
He describes himself as clean and tidy, friendly but a bit reserved and quiet.
I would add trustworthy and family orientated.
Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?
As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙
One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.
So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?
-
59.8% Yes, supporting people is important!
-
25.9% No, individuals should take responsibility
-
14.4% ... It is complicated
