New state highway will be short lived

New Zealand's newest state highway number will come into use on Tuesday December 7, as preparations continue ahead of the opening of Transmission Gully motorway.
Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency is renumbering the section of State Highway 1 (SH1) between Linden and Mackays Crossing as State Highway 59 (SH59), in advance of the opening of the new Transmission Gully motorway, which will become SH1.
