Poll: Pushing our plastic problem offshore is wrong

David from Judgeford - Pauatahanui

Hi,
We all try to do our best with recycling, especially when it comes to plastics. But there's been a lot of comments recently about the damage that's being done in Malaysia and Indonesia by imported plastics just being dumped or burned.
Porirua City Council exports all plastic recycling to Malaysia and Indonesia. We recycle cardboard, aluminium and glass in NZ.
I don't want to be responsible for ruining lives and ecosystems in another country so I am asking our local MP, Chris Faafoi, what plans the government has to recycle our plastic in our country.
What do you think?

Pushing our plastic problem offshore is wrong
  • 2.3% It's OK to send it offshore 'cos it's the cheapest option
    2.3% Complete
  • 97.7% NZ should take a lead and build our own plastics recycling capability
    97.7% Complete

Scam Alert: Bank cold calls

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

ASB is warning customers about reports of cold calls from scammers claiming to be from ASB. These scammers are trying to obtain personal information, including usernames, dates of birth, and verification codes sent to your mobile phone.

🛡️ The "Caller Check" Test
If you get a call from someone claiming to be from ASB and you’re unsure, just ask them for a Caller Check. You will then be able to verify the call through the app.

Remember, banks will:
❌ Never ask for your banking passwords, PINs, or verification codes
❌ Never need to know your full credit card number – especially the CVC
❌ Never ask you to download software or remotely access your device
❌ Never ask you to purchase gift cards or transfer funds.

If you have received a phone call and think your account has been compromised, call ASB on 0800 ASB FRAUD (0800 272 372), or visit your local branch.
