Heirloom Veggie Plants Waikanae Market this Saturday

Val from Otaki District

Labour Weekend is coming up, the traditional time for planting tomatoes although, as the article in this Thursday's The Post points out, this is still a bit early to be planting outdoors. The soil temperature is not consistently high enough in many areas, especially with the cold spells we have been experiencing.
Nevertheless, our heirloom tomatoes (over 60 different varieties!) are coming on well and we'll have the first of them at the Waikanae and Otaki Markets next weekend, along with some early Cucumber, Beans and Peas.
In the meantime, we will be at Waikanae tomorrow with a great assortment of Zucchini and some early Pumpkin.

Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙

One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.

So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?
