New Literacy Program
James Cook High School is looking to build a new room for students to develop their literacy with the new Literacy Department. Steve McCarthy is spearheading the project and he is looking for volunteers and Year 10 students who are looking to raise their reading level to participate. The school will soon hire another teacher to help Year 9 students.
The literacy program features the SRA Reading Lab 3a kit created by Dr. Don Parker, which has a track-record of success in building literacy since its introduction in 1957. Even reluctant readers will enjoy this colour-coded, interactive kit.
The new literacy program needs volunteers who can make their own way to James Cook High School during school hours to volunteer 1-2 hours per week. If you know someone available during that time of day who can help, the school would greatly appreciate their contribution to the program.
