Stay safe in our rivers and streams this summer

The Team from Kāpiti Coast District Council

If your kids or fur babies love our district's rivers or streams, stay safe this summer by keeping an eye out for toxic algae as the weather gets warmer. It can make people quite sick and can be fatal to dogs, even in tiny amounts.

Toxic algae can form brown or black mats that grow on rocks in the riverbed and wash up and dry on our riverbanks. Dogs love the smell and will eat it if given the chance, so never let them scavenge at the river's edge.

For more info about toxic algae and keeping safe in Kāpiti over summer, visit www.kapiticoast.govt.nz...
