Thank you to everyone who submitted questions about their sickly plant babies. Houseplants might be fashionable, but they can be tricky to get right. Whether it’s the wrong light, too much or too little water, or a pesky draft, it doesn’t take much for your prize peace lily to turn yellow or an infestation of bugs to set in.
We put some of your houseplant questions to the plant doctors from Kings Plant Barn to diagnose. Find their answers here.

The Te Newhanga Community Centre was revealed to be affected by leaks, water damaged infrastructure, and toxic mould in 2019, months after another council-owned building, the Waikanae Public Library, was shut for the same reason.
Despite a call from a then-councillor to close the building for health reasons, the community centre remained open to the public. Nearly two years later the council has announced it will be shut until it can be rebuilt or replaced, after testing showed the amount of dangerous mould and moisture damage had increased.
The council said it was committed to rebuilding or replacing the building, proposing setting aside $5 million either this year or 2022.

We don’t want to but the world has changed and we have to adapt. Keeping our teams safe and your power on, no matter what. The increase is about the cost of a jar of jam a month (approx $2.50). Rest assured our bills are amongst the lowest in the country.
