Its going to rain in Taranaki - surprise, surprise
The often exaggerated reports we get these days on weather and other events in my opinion have reached the stage where people are getting turned off. So much of the time the event never happens or is no worse than usual weather patterns. My recommendation is to just view the local weather map. If there is a high coming it will likely be good to reasonable weather and if the isobars are close together and accompanied by a front it is probably going to be windy and wet.
In one case recently we were warned of huge 8 metre waves but the small print said in the Chatham Islands. I appreciate they are trying to help and bad events do happen (often without warning such as our recent tornado) but please a little common sense.
Poll: Do you think banning gang patches is reasonable?
With the government cracking down on gangs, it is now illegal for gang members to display their insignia in public places whether through clothing or their property.
This means arrests can be made if these patches are worn in places like restaurants, shops, on public transport or ferries, and on airplanes. Arrests were made recently at a funeral.

Poll: Should all neighbours have to contribute to improvements?
An Auckland court has ruled a woman doesn’t have to contribute towards the cost of fixing a driveway she shares with 10 neighbours.
When thinking about fences, driveways or tree felling, for example, do you think all neighbours should have to pay if the improvements directly benefit them?
