February meeting: visit to Waireka Cemetery

Peter Hewett from New Plymouth Branch, New Zealand Society of Genealogists

The first branch meeting for 2019 is a trip to the Waireka cemetery near Omata. This will be on Tuesday 5 February 2019, and visitors are most welcome.

This area has lots of history, and is close to the site of the Battle of Waireka. Branch member and local historian, Len Jury will lead the tour and explain some of the local history.

Parking is limited at the cemetery, so please meet up at the branch rooms by 7:00pm, so that we can car pool out to Waireka.
