WATER METERS - INDIVIDUAL? FOR ALL PROPERTY USERS - YES!
There is a NPDC Strategic Projects Committee at the Council Chamber tomorrow Wed. 16/8/23, and they will be debating the cost of Installing Water Meter per Property.... They have already bust the Budget and so will not be able to install 100% of the Meters they Planned! They are also Months behind Schedule! They are also trying to 'push' you into agreeing to a Shared Meter where there is more than one Property eg Cross lease situations... Please do NOT be Bullied! They are using other Councils' data and it is not good! So stick to your principals and INSIST ON AN INDIVIDUAL WATER METER FOR YOUR USE ONLY! AND THEY CAN PAY FOR IT, SINCE WE PAY SO MUCH ALREADY, DON'T WE?? My Neighbour and I have agreed to do this, so we are ready and waiting .... All these figs. and data is on the Council Website, which they don't like us to read, do they?? Happy reading Folks! Heather Pantin-Lewis of Westown
Poll: Are Kiwis allergic to “exuberance”? 🥝
In The Post’s opinion piece on the developments set to open across Aotearoa in 2026, John Coop suggests that, as a nation, we’re “allergic to exuberance.”
We want to know: Are we really allergic to showing our excitement?
Is it time to lean into a more optimistic view of the place we call home? As big projects take shape and new opportunities emerge, perhaps it’s worth asking whether a little more confidence (and enthusiasm!) could do us some good.

Some Choice News!
Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?
Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
