The work was certainly well overdue as at least 3 of the steps had disappeared and the whole lot badly overgrown. I note however that the pedestrian counter is still overgrown. Previously it has recorded up to 40,000 people using the walkway per year. The repairs will be appreciated by all I am sure.

These may be letters from those who served, or to those who served. They may be more than 100 years old, or they may be much more recent. We know these letters will have been passed down and may be very significant to your families. These letters will remain with you - we will just take a copy, which may then be published as part of our Anzac Day coverage. We aim to have about 25 to 30 letters from Taranaki. If you have any letters you would like to share, please email matthew.rilkoff@stuff.co.nz
