Inflation has now been less than 3% per annum for many years but still the Council charges us many times this rate and wants to continue to do so.

Do you think this is fair. Should rates increases and other Council costs be limited to the Consumer Price Index (CPI). Your income probably is.

Following the closure of submissions for the NPDC 10 year plan several surveys were completed on matters that were considered important to ratepayers.

1. Should a further $11million be spent on the Council offices?
NO - 88.5%.
2. Should the ExPowerCo/Tasman Farm fund be used to mitigate rates?

Following the closure of submissions for the NPDC 10 year plan several surveys were completed on matters that were considered important to ratepayers.

1. Should a further $11million be spent on the Council offices?
NO - 88.5%.
2. Should the ExPowerCo/Tasman Farm fund be used to mitigate rates?
YES - 94.3%.
3. Should rates increases be limited to the Consumer Price Index?
YES - 58.8%.
4. Do ratepayers (particularly those on relatively fixed or low incomes) want rates to rise by about 100% over the next 10 years plus the proposed water rates? NO - 96.0%.

I do not think it was included in the NPDC Long Term submission form but do you agree with the Council spending another 11 million dollars on the Pink Palace. Essential work perhaps if properly estimated and approved by the full Council.
