Commemoration for Christchurch Tragedy – Sunday Bike Ride - New Plymouth
This Sunday there is an informal road cycling ride being organised to show support for the Muslim communities after the tragic events that occurred in Christchurch.
The plan is for cyclists of all levels to ride. But, for the more experienced road cyclists, the details are:
1. Gather at Joe’s Garage at 7.45am
2. Head out for the ride at 8.00am
3. Ride about 45- 50km (approximately 2 hours).
Joe’s Garage cycling members will look after forming ability groups, riding safety, and leading the bunches to nominated gathering points along the proposed route
4. Arrive at the Bell Block velodrome at around 10.00am
Those of lesser ability levels or lacking confidence can join in from the Bell Block cycle park and cycle with us along the walkway. Children, parents, E Bikes all welcome. The Joe’s Garage team will organise small groups and provide instructions to ensure all users on the walkway are safe.
We end up at the landing in front of Puke Ariki. On arrival and when everyone is settled, we will have maybe two or three speakers giving short speeches - marking the respect for the victims and families, and showing our support for the Muslim community.
