Lunchtime Concert, The Taranaki Singing Venture

Chris from Lynmouth - Moturoa

The regular lunchtime winter series of concerts at the Methodist Centre is starting again next Wednesday May 7th at 12.15pm, with 26 more concerts scheduled for 2025.
The first concert features the Taranaki Singing Venture (TSV) who have been singing together for five years. It was started jointly by Julian Raphael and Laura Durville and they both share a passion for teaching and leading songs in four-part harmony. The group will be singing songs from South Africa, USA, Samoa, Australia and Aotearoa. The TSV enjoys a participatory approach to choral singing and will invite the audience to join along with some of the songs. Come and be transported for half an hour over lunchtime. Koha appreciated.

Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙

One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.

So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?
