Currently over 1200 people die of bowel cancer each year in Aotearoa NZ. Over 350 are diagnosed with bowel cancer aged under 50 years old age (Bowel cancer NZ)These deaths can be prevented by early detection when bowel cancer is treatable. Currently the bowel screening age is from 60 in NZ .In Australia the bowel screening age is 50 to 74 years of age and recommended from 45 years old . One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.
