Ukestras concert, Wednesday 31st August, Methodist Centre, 12.15pm
A reminder that this weeks concert at the Methodist Centre (Whiteley Memorial Church) at 12.15 pm, features Ukestra. This is a 20 something piece orchestra consisting of Ukeleles, bass, percussion - and possibly a banjo! The Taranaki Ukestra plays gospel, Leonard Cohen, the Everly Brothers and more, embellished with tasty instruments, harmonies and lead vocalists.
All the lunchtime concerts are free (but a Koha is appreciated). Bring along a friend and some lunch for a relaxing concert.

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
