Almost everyone in the world has heard of the game of chess, but what not everyone knows is that there is an entire day dedicated to the celebration of this wonderful pastime!
A game of strategy and wits, chess has long been considered to be the thinking man’s game. From its early days in India in the 6th century, to everywhere in the world today, chess is a wonderful game to play anytime, anywhere, and with almost anyone.

Lunchtime Concert, Janey Mackenzie & Fiona McCabe, Wed 9th October
Janey MacKenzie will be presenting a concert at the Methodist Centre on Wednesday 9th October at 12.15pm. Janey well known in Wellington as a singer, teacher and pianist has relocated to New Plymouth. She will be accompanied by another Wellington Icon, Fiona McCabe, both as singer and also solo pianist.
Their programme will be a couple of Handel Arias, several gorgeous French chansons and piano solo and some classic show songs to finish.

We are looking for new members either have played or want to learn the bagpipes or drums. We have a learners group starting on Wednesday 16th October at Lynmouth Park pavilion at 7pm. Will look forward to seeing you there. Check out our FB page
