Celebrating some of the greatest singers of all-time including Mario Lanza, Richard Tauber, Pavarotti, Placido Domingo, Joan Sutherland, Maria Callas and Dame Kiri.

A programme interspersed with film and great anecdotes, humour and a mix of opera arias like Nessun Dorma, and the Pearl Fishers duet.

Don’t worry, not everything is opera! Featuring melodies such as Tauber’s You are my Hearts Delight and Pedro the Fisherman, and Mario Lanza’s I’ll Walk with God.

As well as our Three Tenors we have Amanda Atlas, star of Opera Australia and New Zealand Opera, Susan Boland and David Kelly, principal accompanist and répétiteur with New Zealand Opera.

How will this affect your wages?

The Team from ACC New Zealand

For most workers, part of your wage goes to ACC. We’re proposing you pay more because accidents and medical costs have gone up. If you’re a wage earner, these proposals could affect you.

Thank you everyone for your replies and support, the petition is up and running, early days, but I need your help.
I am planning to do Bell Block , foot slogging , the CBD and the airport; I don't expect you to do this but some of you have asked me for the petition form so they can take it to friends, family, clubs, work etc.
When I did the petition for the walkway past John Matthews' factory a lot of people did the same, and took petition forms around friend family etc, and it is that which was the most successful method.
If you feel you can help in this way, I can email, post or deliver the form to you.
Obviously if people have signed the online petition the must not sign the paper form.
It is creating traction but we need everyone who feels disenfranchised and annoyed by this decision to stand up and fight for our history.
I look forward to hearing from you as many of you as possible.
Thank you in anticipation

Note on speed threshold: Over the holiday period – 4pm on Friday 19 October to 6am on Tuesday 23 October 2018 – if you're detected by a safe speed camera exceeding the posted speed limit by more than 4 km/h, you are highly likely to be ticketed.

Police and the NZ Transport Agency are reminding people to start their journey well rested and stay safe on the roads if they are going away for the long weekend.

“Share the road like it’s your family driving around you,” says Superintendent Steve Greally, National Manager Road Policing. “This is where Police’s focus remains as well. We know the four main behaviours that contribute to death and serious injury on our roads are people driving distracted, drivers impaired by fatigue, drugs, or alcohol, drivers speeding, and people not wearing their seatbelt.

Statistics: During Labour weekend in 2017 there were five fatal crashes and 76 reported injury crashes. These crashes resulted in six deaths, 23 serious injuries and 103 minor injuries.

In 2017, fatigue was a contributing factor in 32 fatal crashes and 100 serious injury crashes. Driver fatigue is difficult to identify or recognise as contributing to a crash. This means it’s likely that fatigue is under-recorded, and contributes to more crashes than we realise.

Hi everyone trying to keep tabs on this; I am sorry I have not updated things recently, but I have been out of the country.
The online petition alone has 350 signatures, and I know one individual has managed to gain a similar number on the paper version.
There is significant number of people out there with petitions they are circulating to friends, family and work colleagues, but the more the merrier; if you feel you can help please ask me for a form, alternatively if you are happy just to sign the online petition, go to; www.change.org... when you have the page go to 'browse' then 'recent'. We are current on about page 7, but that will alter as other petitions come on line.
If you have already signed the paper copy, please do not sign the online petition.
I will get an update in the next week from those who have paper copies and pass this on before I think about the next move.
I have been told that council doesn't care how many signatures we get; with your support I think they would be very stupid, with an election coming up in 12 months to, to ignore the voice of a large number of the people who pay them and potentially vote them in or out.

Plan ahead to stay safe and avoid delays this Labour Weekend

The NZ Transport Agency has developed a tool that shows predicted traffic flow across popular journeys based on travel patterns from previous years. It can be found here.

Because predicted peak times can change based on incidents, weather and even driver behaviour we suggest that you check here before you leave for accurate information about current road and traffic conditions.

The holiday journeys site shows the busiest areas through Bay of Plenty and Waikato are expected to be the Kaimai Range, State Highway 2 between Paeroa and Waihi and State Highway 2 between Tauranga and Katikati, State Highway 1 north of Hamilton at Taupiri, State Highway 1 south of Cambridge at Karapiro, State Highway 2 at Maramarua and the Coromandel on State Highway 25 at Tairua and Kopu Bridge.

When driving this Labour Weekend, take care to:
- Drive to the conditions, whether it’s the weather, the time of day or amount of traffic
- Take regular breaks to stay alert and ensure fatigue doesn’t affect your driving
- Keep a safe following distance from vehicles in front so you can stop safely
- Be patient - overtaking is unlikely to make a significant difference to your journey time due to the amount of traffic expected over the weekend.
- Allow plenty of time, remember you are on holiday and avoid the need to rush
- Check your car is in good "health" before you head off.
