Should the council review its rules around woodburners?
Marc and Talya Horrocks are facing a battle with the Nelson City Council over their fireplace.
Marc and Talya live within Nelson South's "Airshed A" - which doesn't allow people to use or replace woodburners built between 1996 and 1999. After buying their house in 2017, it wasn't until 2019 they found out it was not permitted - and because of the unique features of the house (formerly the Nelson South Methodist Church) it could cost $30,000 or more to install an alternative heating system.
Do you think the council should re-consider its policy on woodburners in Nelson South - or will that just lead to high pollution levels in the area?
