Often this wood is either treated or painted, which is illegal to burn.
If you burn it you will be causing air pollution and are likely to get a visit from our compliance officers. If you need firewood, Good Wood suppliers are still open as essential services.
Give them a call, and they will deliver – you can find their details here nelson.govt.nz/good-wood.
Remember to follow their lockdown protocols to keep everyone safe.

Thanks to everyone for your feedback about the harvesting in the Codgers recreation area. We’ve spent the day having further discussions with stakeholders, to come up with an alternative plan.
As a result, we are pleased to let you know that the harvesting operation has been deferred, which means we all get to enjoy the trails in the Atmore and Tantragee Reserves this spring and summer.
We’ll be speaking to stakeholders more over the coming months to work out the best time to harvest the trees with the least impact on recreation users.
Thanks again for your feedback, we do value it.
