These tips are being shared after a 44-year-old woman will appear in Pukekohe District Court on 28 March charged with theft.
An alleged mail thief in the Pukekohe area has hand-delivered herself into Police, following assistance from the community.
Counties Manukau South Senior Sergeant MJ Riddle says Police were aware of locals discussing a mail theft on social media. A report was made to Police at the time in January and had included enough detail including CCTV footage and a vehicle of interest. Following Police enquiries, the woman has brought herself into the Pukekohe Police Station a few days later.
“This is a great result for the community and a timely reminder to the public to continue reporting any thefts from letterboxes.”
Senior Sergeant Riddle says
“Our community should be able to receive parcels and mail without concern of interference but unfortunately there are people in our communities who take advantage of opportunities to commit thefts from mail boxes and front porches."
“We encourage anyone who has been the victim of dishonesty offending to report it as soon as possible,” she says."

While Labour MP Rachel Boyack has said the road is in "dire need of some love," Nelson's mayor Nick Smith said addressing Rocks Rd was "challenging", and a "distant dream".

Tapestry Weaving inspired by the fascinating New Zealand bush and beaches of the West Coast, Buller District. You will be taken by master weaver and practicing artist Marilyn Rea-Menzies for short strolls into the local bush, along the river and beaches, to find inspiration for a series of designs that can be woven as tapestry.
Images from nature have dominated themes in tapestry and other textile mediums for hundreds of years, and you will be acknowledging this continuum in the workshop.
This three-day workshop covers a range of design and tapestry techniques, commencing with your own collection of either sketches or photographs as a starting point. Marilyn will guide you to translate your images into compositions of one, or a small series of works using the design and technical and aspects required for weaving tapestry.
This workshop is open to beginners and for those with prior tapestry weaving experience, who under Marilyn's tutorage will take your artistic abilities to the next level. Everyone will work at their own pace.
This small group workshop is held at Marilyn's private studio in Westport, there are a range of accommodation options nearby. It runs 10-4 each day for three days.
Dates: 15th - 17th March
24 to 26 May.
