Tutor: Anne Grassham
Level: This Workshop is for beginners and those wanting to refresh basic spinning skills.
Description: Meet the sheep. Experience the feel of “raw” wool and how to prepare it. Then create a yarn using just your fingers. Progress to spinning a single thread using a simple spindle, then ply the thread to produce a yarn with strength and balance, and wind it into a skein ready to knit or weave. When you can do this, progress to using one of several different spinning wheels and learn how to make the necessary adjustments for effortless spinning. Beware: you may just become addicted!
Anne may even treat you to an old fashioned Devonshire tea.
What to Bring: You are welcome to bring their own wheel if you have one.
Finished Product: You will go home with one or more skeins of wool you have spun.
Location: Held at Fleecewood, Anne's farmlet in Wai-iti Valley approximately 18km from Wakefield (40km to Nelson Airport).

***update***So it seems that cctv footage, registration number and a name are not enough info for the police to "find out who it is". Crikey I'm glad I'm better at my job than they are at theirs!!! See letter below. What on earth is enough info I wonder!!!

2008 Chevrolet MW .....MDK314.
Yesterday a woman pretended to pay for some plants from my plant stall in Lower Moutere.
Checking the lockbox afterwards we discovered no money and missing cyclamen and hebes. Security footage shows very clearly the woman, her car and rego and the pretend payment. Before I load the cctv footage onto the police website I'd like anyone who recognizes who this is to tell them I'm giving them a chance to put the money they owe into the lockbox.
Also posted on crime and safety board.

Susan Williams from Frankleigh Park in New Plymouth has nominated Kathryn Shaw as a Nice Neighbour. She says:
'Kathryn and her partner Chris spent all Waitangi day replacing and repairing our dividing fence, they did such an amazing job. Chris also brought me a load of firewood when I ran out in winter for which I was so grateful. If I ever need a hand with any heavy work or lifting, I know I only have to ask and they are there. There have been so many instances over the years where Kathryn's help has been given, too many to name. I wouldn't swap my neighbours for anyone else this is why I am still here after 20 years.'
Know a deserving local? Nominate them for a Nice Neighbour award here.
