New Hawke's Bay Airport entrance is open
Access to Hawke's Bay Airport is now up and running through the new Watchman Rd entranceway off the roundabout link off State Highway 2 in Napier.
The new road opened on Monday with signage indicating the new entrance was installed. The old intersection, which had been the scene of a string of serious crashes, was tagged by the New Zealand Transport Agency as one of the region's most notorious safety blackspots. The old entrance off SH2 now has temporary speed restrictions in place as it is being disestablished.
Temporary speed limits of 50km/h are in place through the work area and motorists are asked to be patient and drive with care on the approaches.
