It was unclear if someone broke into the church, or smashed it from outside, Senior Sergeant Trevor Thomson said.
Meanwhile, two Scott mountain bikes, valued at $2000, and two Honda CRF trail motorbikes were stolen from a woolshed on Saddle Hill Rd last month.
The trail bikes were 150cc and 250cc respectively and were valued at $2500 each.
Police were also investigating report of a person trying to break-in at Cafe 55, on Clyde St, Balclutha, over the weekend.
Wilbur was born this morning 1 of 3 but has been rejected by his mother. He needs to be hand reared which we don't have time for.
He is the most lovely docile gorgeous little boy.
