Parihaka remains closed for now - here's the status of our other walking tracks
Walkers of Whangarei will be delighted to know we've been able to re-open most of the tracks in our District, but there are still some notable track closures including at Parihaka.

Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?
As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙
One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.

Warrant to arrest: Steven Te Maru Walters
Police are working to locate Steven Te Maru Walters, who has a warrant for his arrest and is wanted by Police.
Walters, 40, is wanted by Police in relation to breaching his release conditions and is known to frequent the Whangārei area. It’s believed he is actively avoiding Police.
