Waterfront Precinct Plan engagement opens

The Team from Whangarei District Council

Let's talk about the waterfront! Today we are launching our Waterfront Precint Plan engagement and we want your input on this very special part of the city.

www.wdc.govt.nz...

Help us develop a 20 to 30-year shared vision for the Whangarei Waterfront for how it will change and develop.

Over the next few weeks our team will also be going to events around Whangārei – the Night Market, Artisan Markets, holding meetings with key stakeholders and the general public (at A’Fare, 10am-12pm on 3 December and 5pm-7pm on 10 December) and holding drop-in sessions at the Central Library on Thursdays from 11am-12pm and 5pm-6pm on 19 and 26 November. Find out all about this project and tell us what you think!

Over the past 25 years, numerous plans and/or strategies have been developed and projects completed for the waterfront area. The Waterfront Precinct Plan will develop a cohesive vision for the waterfront area drawing on past work, existing projects and guiding future development in a consistent and integrated way. A precinct plan enables all of the projects to be considered together in one document.

A plan like this is likely to affect development for the next 20-30 years so it is vital that it reflects the wishes of the community, mana whenua and key stakeholders who will be living with the results. This Precinct Plan will inform future projects and planning, public space improvements, infrastructure spending and the Whangārei District Plan.

Poll: Should all neighbours have to contribute to improvements?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

An Auckland court has ruled a woman doesn’t have to contribute towards the cost of fixing a driveway she shares with 10 neighbours.

When thinking about fences, driveways or tree felling, for example, do you think all neighbours should have to pay if the improvements directly benefit them?
