Mug-making Workshop with R Ceramics

Franklin Arts Centre from Franklin Arts Centre

In this workshop, Bex from R Ceramics (@r__ceramics) will begin with a full demonstration of how to make a mug using basic pottery hand-building slab techniques. You’ll then go through the process with her support, creating a mug designed and decorated by you. Bex will (carefully) take your creation home. She will bisque fire it, glaze it in your choice of white, clear or black, then do a final firing. Your mug will be ready four weeks later for collection from the Franklin Art Centre.

No need to bring anything but yourself on the day – all materials, aprons, and ideas (if you want them) are provided.
Suitable for ages 10+

Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙

One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.

So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?

While things are looking calmer in the days ahead, there are still plenty of slips and flooded roads across the district — so if you’re heading out, take it easy and stay alert.

We want to know: How did you and your whānau get on over the weekend?
