Petone traffic bottleneck

Rosalie from Wainuiomata

On Friday I had a 8.30 am app at the Wellington hospital, quick shower, gobbled down quick breakfast and took my coffee with me. all went well UNTILL I reached that dreaded area past the lights on Petone foresaw where it moves into SINGLE lane and dutifully got in line while traffic just passed us by presumably to turn right but MOST of them oh! no they carried on cars, vans and the rest till they got to the front of the queue and pushed their way in. and we did not move, if I was at the front of the line I would not let ANY of the B's in what do they think they have that the others of us do not why can SOMETHING be done about this, bad enough when they go round the roundabout and get in but the cheek of them large as life how I wish I could just take my car and straddle it across both lanes, but there might just be one honest person who does want to turn right, it is not right. what do other think and what can we do about we do about these cheeky gate crashers needless to say though I left one and a half early I did not get to my app on time

Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙

One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.

So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?
