Share your love of cycling and become a ride leader in the Hutt
Do you love riding your bike, and want to share that love around your local community?
This free one day Ride Leader workshop will prepare you to coordinate small group cycle rides, to get our ‘would be’ riders out on our trails and roads. It will give parents, teachers and community members all the information they need to know to be an effective Ride Leader of adults, children and families on bikes.
After the workshop, organisers will help trainees with mentoring, and with a network supporting them to continue to be great leaders.
There are two opportunities for you to join a Ride Leader Programme workshop.
Workshop 1 – Friday 31 March, 9.30am – 3.30 pm; or
Workshop 2 – Saturday 1 April 9.30am – 3.30 pm.
To register, email ride@cyclingnewzealand.nz or phone Amy Taylor 027 501 4085.
These workshops come to you via a partnership between Hutt City Council, Wellington City Council, Greater Wellington’s Pedal Ready programme, Sport Wellington Inc and Cycling New Zealand.
Please register and you can help more people get out to enjoy the great cycle trails throughout our region.

Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?
As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙
One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.
So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?
-
59.5% Yes, supporting people is important!
-
26.2% No, individuals should take responsibility
-
14.3% ... It is complicated
