Lower Hutt Go By Bike Day Wed 15 Feb
This year’s Hutt City event is shaping up to be the best yet – and hopefully the biggest! We’ve got lots to celebrate, with big additions to our network of cycleways and shared paths in the pipeline, and work starting on the Wainuiomata Hill shared path in the next week or two.
Fast, slow, graceful, younger older or in the middle, one two or three wheels, mountainbike or road warrior – whatever your style, ride on down to The Dowse to mix and mingle with fellow cyclists, and celebrate all things cycling with great food, excellent coffee and awesome entertainment.
Yummy breakfast food,
Ripe Coffee,
Biketecnz will give your bike a check-up, adjust brakes and gears, all for free!
Live music from the Hutt Valley Ukulele Orchestra!
Plus plenty of spot prizes!

As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙
One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.
So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?
-
59.5% Yes, supporting people is important!
-
26.2% No, individuals should take responsibility
-
14.3% ... It is complicated
