City's unreinforced masonry buildings now up to a safe standard

All buildings in Lower Hutt with unreinforced masonry, that could cause injury or death in the event of an earthquake, have now been brought up to a safe standard.

Hutt City Council is thrilled the owners of the 25 buildings got the work done by the 10 September deadline.

The rebuild of the cinema and a section of the carpark will begin next month, with the new carparking ready by Christmas 2019. The new, state-of-the-art cinema complex is anticipated to open in 2020.
