Flooding and transport update - 3.00pm

· For advice on what to do during a flood and storm visit www.getprepared.org.nz...
• River levels on the Waiwhetu Stream have dropped considerably since their peak late this morning
· Sightseers have been observed at Riverbank Car Park. People must stay away from waterways and avoid sightseeing.
· State Highway 2 from Ngauranga north to Petone remains closed
· State Highway 2 south remains open
·        The latest aftershocks between 2pm and 3pm have led to train services being suspended. Buses are still operating but there is still flooding and slips causing disruption.
· Taita and Pomare railway stations are closed. Buses can take passengers between stations. Commuters should check Metlink website
· Silverstream Landfill is closed
