Wainuiomata flood hazard mapping

Jon from Hutt City Council

Last month’s move to Covid-19 alert level 2 meant we couldn’t get to Wainuiomata to show people the finished stormwater flood maps and talk to locals about flooding of the Wainuiomata River.

But we’re back in business. We’ll be at the Wainuiomata Community Hub on Wednesday 21 July (3-5pm) and Saturday 24 July (11am-2pm).

To view the maps and for more information on these projects, go to the link below.

Some Choice News!

Kia pai from Sharing the Good Stuff

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.

Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?

Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
