Upper Hutt seems to have missed out in the building of more Housing NZ houses or for comprehensive renovating of what stock it has.

Currently UH has around 350 such houses as compared to Lower Hutt's around 3350.. And Lower Hutt is where the Government to going to make a concerted housing effort.

But does UP need any more? I say no. UH has enough comparatively cheap housing already.

What UH is getting is a new large housing estate nearby the Trentham Racecourse. And I would like to see apartment-type accommodation inside UH's CBD and greater CBD areas.

Block Road in Lower Hutt remains closed. Those in Wainuiomata please take particular care along Moores Valley Road, warning signs are in place to reduce your speed when driving along this road.
Strong winds earlier today have also lifted one of the roofing tiles at the Fraser Park Grandstand. The tile cannot be fixed at the moment as it's too dangerous for fire crews to be on the roof in this weather. The ground has been closed as a precaution and the gates are up. Please keep away.

Hi Neighbours!

We hope you are keeping warm and dry in this cold and wet weather.
To warm you up a little we are going to share our "Seven Top Tips To Get A Property Ready For Sale". We will share a new tip every couple of days. Enjoy tip number 1!

Planning to sell a property? Follow these seven simple tips to ensure your property will provide you with the best possible return on the time and money invested.

Having made the decision to sell a property, an investor should be aiming to maximise their returns.
To this end, they need to make sure their property presents as well as possible to potential buyers. But that does not have to mean spending vast amounts of time and money.

There are some straightforward, cost-effective ways to go about doing this. Here is our first tip for getting a property sale ready:

1. First impressions matter

First impressions count for a lot with potential buyers and those impressions are formed quickly. Therefore, vendors need to make sure the exterior of their property presents well.

Lawns should be mowed, hedges should be trimmed, paving or concrete should be cleaned, fences should be well-maintained and paintwork should be clean and fresh. The property needs to be spick and span and any renovations must be complete. This includes minor repairs as well as major ones.

Stuff which runs Neighbourly have run a commercially viable campaign to get subscribers to shift their electricity supplier to Nova.

So I just went through the comparison test between what Nova is offering and my current provider, Meridian. And to my surprise despite all the hype that Stuff had created, Meridian is $40 cheaper on my last bill from them.

I am no great fan of Meridian otherwise and I actually have shares in Mighty Power but Meridian seem still to give residents in the Wellington region the best deal among electricity providers. This does not include gas.
