BLOCK ROAD IN LOWER HUTT CLOSED (3.20pm 13 July 2017)
After heavy rain in the city throughout the day, surface flooding on Block Road is at a level that means we need to close the road. Block Road is now closed and it will remain closed overnight.
All other roads in Lower Hutt remain open. If that changes we will update this post with new information. You can also follow www.facebook.com... for roading updates.
There is surface flooding at other spots across the city and our contractors are out monitoring them. If you notice any issues please help us by reporting them 24/7 via our contact centre: 04 570 6666.
It's bitterly cold out and the Hutt River is running high so please stay inside if you don't need to be out and stay away from waterways.
We've also closed three Council facilities early today at 4pm: council's building on Laings Road, War Memorial Library and the Lower Hutt I-SITE.
For the latest on public transport checkout www.metlink.org.nz... you'll also find them on Twitter.
If you've got power outages where you are, check out the Wellington Electricity website for updates on when they expect it to be back on www.welectricity.co.nz...
Travel safe everyone and try to keep warm…it’s a double jersey kind of day!
