Eastbourne Marine Parade south made safer
New bollards will be positioned on the narrow section of Marine Parade, south Eastbourne between Hinau and Kauri Streets to make the area free of through traffic.
Residents and car users should see the new bollards later this week, and the existing bollard further down the Parade will be upgraded to be visible at night.
Hutt City Council traffic engineer Zackary Moodie says, “Local residents have asked to prohibit through traffic between these two streets due to a narrow 3m wide section making it difficult for shared use between pedestrians and traffic.
“The bollards should be installed this week if weather permits. Cyclists and walkers will still be able to access Marine Parade south, residents in the area will still have access to their properties, but there will be no through traffic making it a safer place for pedestrians and cyclists.”
