Matron and Nurse Mildred Sarah Russell opened 38 Knights Rd LHutt as a private maternity home 1923-1944 when she retired.
Her own son Kevin James Russell was born there 1925.
Her sister Lottie May ie Mrs Fred Corn Humphrey worked here too.

John was Mayor, MP and councillor [city and regional] over the years giving his all to Lower Hutt and beyond.
