Local bird rescuers need your help

Reporter Community News

Lower Hutt Kereru Rescue needs your help.
Throughout 2020 it received 784 phone calls relating to injured birds.
It responded to 598 calls and rescued a total of 543 birds (including the ruru pictured) that were picked up and helped.
It spent $16,357 throughout 2020 on rescues, care and rehabilitation of the birds it rescued. Unfortunately the donations didn't cover the costs for the year which resulted in it coming out of the pocket of organiser Hayden James.
Each rescue costs around $35. If you can help, click on Read More and check out their website.
